This volume, Restaurants in Paris 2, is a sequel to the previous book and, like its predecessor, documents Parisian dining spaces with a focus not on cuisine but on architecture, interiors, and spatial composition. By expanding both the scope of establishments and the editorial perspective, it adds further depth to the portrayal of restaurant culture in Paris at the time.

The book is organized around seven categories—Restaurant, Bistrot, Brasserie, Cafe, Salon de The, Wine Bar, and Cabaret—and presents representative venues within each type primarily through photography. Interior design, furniture layout, lighting, and decorative elements are carefully recorded, allowing the use of space and atmosphere of each establishment to be clearly understood.

Featured venues include Le Meurice, Lucas Carton, Chez Lasserre, and Fouquet’s, spaces that remain well known today and that convey the Parisian dining scene of the late 1980s to around 1990 in a vivid, three-dimensional manner. The volume also includes a list of establishments and maps at the end.

Across the chapters, interiors, seating arrangements, lighting, and ornamentation are shown in detail through photographs, clearly expressing the character of each space. Among the examples are Le Grand Vefour, La Tour d’Argent, Lasserre, Brasserie Lipp, and Cafe de Flore, restaurants that continue to be recognized as emblematic of Paris.

Read together with the first volume, this sequel offers a more layered understanding of how spatial expression differs by period and district, and how Paris as a city has cultivated its restaurant culture over time. It invites the reader to trace the changing stages on which Parisian gastronomy has unfolded.
